Are We There YET?!

Young children have no concept of clock time, so saying to them “in a couple of hours” or “in 3 days” really means nothing to them. Instead, try to conceptualize time for them in terms they can understand, i.e. “after nap”,ย  “before lunch” or “after we go to bed tonight and wake up in the morning”. And the next time, parents, they drive you up a wall by continuously asking for something even though you told them to “wait 5 minutes”, be a little more understanding and remember that they have NO idea what “5 minutes” feels like ๐Ÿ™‚

Note: You can still use the “countdown method”mentioned here , just keep in mind that they only know that it’s almost time to leave, not what that time actually feels like. So, good news, you can fudge and tell them “10 minutes” but actually leave in 2. Tricky! Hey, we have to stick together, parents. Right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

In Peace,
